Peacocks!

My peacock stand!
I drew a picture of a peacock stand. It was tricky including all the angles I had to include, but I ended up rearranging the shape of my sign, so that's why I have a funny-shaped sign.

Perhaps this will help

We've had a few guesses as to the theme of our pictures below. We mentioned that there was a fourth picture. Are you ready for it?

It's a guess your weight game!

And just to recap. We had a Peacock Stand, Popcorn Stand, and a Ferris Wheel. Now, we hope that more people will be able to uncover the theme! So post your thoughts below.

A Masterpiece!

We created this masterpiece to help us remember somthing very important.

What is it and what can it help us remember?

Here is a close up of each piece:

A division sign

A multiplication sign

A line....okay, a subtraction sign

A check mark
A down arrow
A musical sign that means repeat

What do these all have in common?

Can you guess what these three pictures have in common?  Let us know your thoughts and we'll reveal the answer in a few days.

Peackcocks...hummm...

A Ferris Wheel

A Popcorn Stand

Also, there is a fourth picture that belongs in this group. Any guesses as to what it might be?

Minnie Mouse!

Ariana chose to draw Minnie Mouse to showcase all of her angles.

Here she is! Minnie Mouse!

Notice how Ariana clearly labeled all of Minnie's angles.

Angle City

Here is Angle City drawn by Justin, Cal, and Albert.

This is an arial view of the city park.

Even though this picture looks quite abstract,  you can see angles are clearly labeled.

The Flat Pancake, The Sea-saw Carpentry, and The Pizza Slice are just some of the stores in this city.

Here is an arial view of some of the homes in this city.

Here is a close up of two of the homes and a hot tub too!

Drawing Angles is a Piece of Cake!

When we were told to draw a picture with angles we remembered how in the past we had used food to model angles. While we were thinking of food we thought of cake. We incorporated angles into the picture by making a kinfe, fork, plate, and a background. This picture includes a 45, 125, 170, 230, 360, and many 90 degree angles. We used a protractor, compass, ruler and we colored our picture to make it pop!

Thanks for checking it out!

Screen Casting: What is Multiplication?

Recently, we explored making screen casting videos. Screen casting is when you capture what you write on the SmartBoard. It's an easy way to make a movie. With proper planning, you can easily make a simple screen casing video in about 15 minutes. If you wanted to add titles and music, it could still be done in a half an hour or less. Here is a very simple screen casting video. We'll upload some more later. Also, if you are interested in the planning part or how to screen cast, comment below and we'll devote a few blogs to the "how" of screen casting. Enjoy!

Angles! Angles! Angles!

We are currently learning about using protractors to measure and draw various angles. We are working in small groups to create murals with a variety of different angles. One group is drawing scenes from a state fair. Another group is creating a city (homes, businesses, and a park). We are working hard to accurately draw and label our pictures. Once we are finished (next Monday), we'll post pictures of our creations.

Welcome!

Welcome to our site! We are fourth graders who love math. We were inspired to create this blog by Ivan's Number Blog. It is pretty cool. We're not exactly sure how we're going to use this site, but we are excited to experiment with it. Please leave us a note below letting us know you're reading. And of course, sign up to "Follow [Us]."
